Don't know if they're in the budget this year though.

Tony, I overwintered it (and two pups) in my garage. I cut back all the leaves and wrapped the root ball and stem (about 3-4 feet) in newspapers. They're about ready to go back outside now that the weather is warm again. I'll post another update with new pictures when I do.Anthonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06836531596317603886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15257330.post-84031997538312284392007-05-08T03:28:00.000-04:002007-05-08T03:28:00.000-04:00hey, I found your site while looking for informati...hey, I found your site while looking for information on this type of banana tree and how well it will grow up north (I live in southern Ontario). Just curious, how has your tree been doing after a winter now, are they still growing? and how big did it grow in a container?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15257330.post-53328652670495514602007-04-03T18:05:00.000-04:002007-04-03T18:05:00.000-04:00Anthony, have you tried "Angels Trumpet",or Brugma...Anthony, have you tried "Angels Trumpet",or Brugmansia? They have large trumpet shaped flowers(like six to seven inches).Extremely fragrant, and the interesting thing is the fragrance is released in the evening. You can smell it all over the garden. They won't make it in the winter either, but will grow four to five feet in one summer! Another wow factor for people that have never seen it.

kurtKurthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11151874241313704850noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15257330.post-1155265757732465142006-08-10T23:09:00.000-04:002006-08-10T23:09:00.000-04:00Christa, I like the umbrella story. When my husband and I were traveling there, we got caught (unprepared) in a rain storm one day and some of the locals told us to cut the leaves and use them as umbrellas. They called them "Poor Man's Umbrella."Christahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01905386163490128028noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15257330.post-1155258362234481282006-08-10T21:06:00.000-04:002006-08-10T21:06:00.000-04:00The leaves are almost 4 feet wide and both plants ...The leaves are almost 4 feet wide and both plants are close to six or seven feet high. The pots that they're in are about a foot and half tall though so they're not quite six feet high yet.

The chimenea that's in between the plants is five feet tall and it's hidden by the leaves.

Definitely some fun plants!!!Anthonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06836531596317603886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15257330.post-1155250657798143142006-08-10T18:57:00.000-04:002006-08-10T18:57:00.000-04:00Wow!!!
